Understand & Obtain a Cancellation Certificate for Deceased Pakistani Citizens

When a Pakistani citizen sadly passes away, their National Identity Card (NIC/CNIC) needs to be officially canceled to prevent identity theft and misuse. This documented proof is known as a Cancellation Certificate.

Need to cancel your lost loved one’s Nadra ID card? Getting a cancellation certificate is easy and costs only Rs50 (as of December 2023).

Who can apply?

Only immediate family members of the deceased who hold valid NIC/CNICs can apply for the Cancellation Certificate.

Necessary documents:

  • Death certificate: Issued by the Union Council office.
  • Graveyard certificate: Verifying the burial location.
  • All available original ID cards: Including NIC/CNIC, NICOP, POC, and CRC. These will be destroyed at the NADRA Registration Center (NRC) by staff.

How to apply:

  1. Gather the required documents mentioned above.
  2. Visit your nearest NADRA Registration Center (NRC).
  3. Submit the documents to the NRC staff member.
  4. The NRC staff will verify the documents and proceed with the cancellation process.
  5. You will receive the Cancellation Certificate once the process is complete.
