What is a NADRA Succession Certificate / Letter of Administration?
A NADRA Succession Certificate / Letter of Administration is a legal document that gives you the right to claim and manage the assets of a deceased person. It is issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Pakistan.
What is the difference between a Succession Certificate and a Letter of Administration?
A Succession Certificate is for movable assets, such as cash in bank accounts, stocks, and bonds. A Letter of Administration is for immovable assets, such as property and land.
Who can apply for a Succession Certificate or Letter of Administration?
Any of the legal heirs of the deceased person can apply for a SCA/LA.
How do I apply for a Succession Certificate or Letter of Administration?
To apply for a SCA/LA, you can visit any NADRA Registration Center. The applicant will need to fill out an application form and submit the required documents. NADRA will then verify the documents and publish a public notice in the newspaper to invite any objections. If there are no objections within 14 days of the publication of the notice, NADRA will issue the SCA/LA to the applicant.
Which document do I need?

- Death certificate of the deceased
- Cancellation certificate of CNIC of deceased
- Family Registration Certificate (FRC)
- Original CNIC of applicant
- CNICs of legal heirs
- Bank statement or other proof of movable assets (if required)
- Letter from employer (if deceased was employed)
- Ownership proof of immovable assets (if required)
- Affidavit/letter of authorization (as per NADRA format)
How do I get a NADRA Succession Certificate / Letter of Administration?
To get a NADRA Succession Certificate / Letter of Administration, you will need to submit the following documents:
- Your CNIC/NICOP/POC
- The deceased person’s CNIC cancellation certificate (CD)
- The deceased person’s Family Registration Certificate (FRC)
- Copies of CNICs of all legal heirs
- A letter of authorization from all legal heirs to file the application on their behalf
- Property/assets documents in original (except Punjab)
- A letter from the employer of the deceased person, if they were a public or private employee, mentioning all the terminal benefits for which succession is required
- Any other documents deemed appropriate by the Authority
You can submit your application at any NADRA Succession Facilitation Unit (SFU). The SFU will process your application and issue the certificate to you within a few days.

The processing time for a SCA/LA varies depending on the complexity of the case. However, NADRA aims to process the applications within 30 days of receiving all the required documents and completing the verification process.

The following fees are applicable for applying for a SCA/LA:
- Rs. 20,000/- if the value of assets exceeds Rs. 100,000/-
- Rs. 10,000/- if the value of assets is less than Rs. 100,000/-

Respected Sir,
It is requested that the applicant intends to apply for succession Certificate / Letter of Administration regarding movable and immovable properties of deceased father Sheikh Rehan Ahmed, CNIC No. 61101-445511151-6 who died on 23-01-2019.
My application for issuance of succession certificate / Letter of Administration cannot be processed due to following reason.
